BARCELONA midfielder Sergio Busquets has made a shock admission following his side’s defeat against Espanyol
Barcelona suffered a 1-0 loss after Lionel Messi missed a crucial 60th minute penalty.
However, the La Liga leaders will have a chance to progress to the semi-finals when they meet in the second leg in two weeks’ time.
The defeat is the first that has been inflicted on Barcelona this season and Busquets claims that the squad knew it would happen at some point.
The 29-year-old thought that his side would not go the entire season unbeaten but he wants to see them respond positively when they return to action.
“We knew this day would come,” Busquets said.
“We tried to delay it as much as possible but it couldn’t be today.
“The good thing is that we have the second leg to try to mount a comeback.
“It can’t affect us, it’s just another game.
“We are lucky to play the second leg at home, we will have to win whatever happens.”
Barcelona’s next match is against Real Betis in the league on Sunday (7.45pm).
And the second leg clash against Espanyol will take place on February 4.
